Penguins Head To Akron For Al Campbell Invitational

Members of the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field team have one final tune-up meet on Friday before the upcoming Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships next week.
A group of 30 Penguins will compete at the Al Campbell Invitational hosted by Akron at the Stile Athletics Field House. Field Events are set to begin at 4 p.m. with the Women's Pole Vault while running events get underway at 5 o'clock.
Schools with athletes competing in the meet are Akron, Buffalo, Capital, Central State, Duquesne, Kent State, Lake Erie, Malone, Pittsburgh, Walsh, Westminster (Pa.) along with Youngstown State.
For the women, YSU will be led by five pole vaulters and four weight throwers at the meet. For the men, the Guins are sending four weight throwers and three pole vault competitors, including current Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week, Wyatt Lefker.
In the on-track races, the women will have four competitors while the men will have five runners.
The Horizon League Championships are next Saturday and Sunday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
