Youngstown State hosts Ohio Christian in the 2023-24 home opener, Monday, Nov. 13, at Beeghly Center. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Youngstown, Ohio. The game will be broadcast on 570 WKBN and ESPN+.

The Penguins continue their three-game homestand when they host Utah Tech, Friday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. and Lake Erie College, Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out
Youngstown State is coming off a 92-62 loss at Big Ten-member Michigan on Nov. 10. Four players reached double figures led by senior Bryson Langdon's 15 points. Senior Ziggy Reid posted 12 points while senior Brett Thompson and junior EJ Farmer  added 10 points each.

Scouting Ohio Christian
After starting the year 0-3, the Trailblazers have won their last two games to improve to 2-3. Ohio Christian is coming off an 83-70 win over Northwest Ohio on Nov. 10, and an 80-70 victory over Central Baptist College on Nov. 11 Levi Seiler leads the Trailblazers with 21.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Jimmy Salamone is near double figures with 9.2 points per game.

Penguin Portal Success
Over the last two seasons, Youngstown State has flourished during the transfer portal era. The Penguins own a record of 43-27 over the past two-plus campaigns, and produced five all-conference selections. Youngstown State has been tough to beat at home over the last two years posting a 27-10 mark.

Fifth-year graduate student DJ Burns has had a solid collegiate career. Burns has scored more than 800 points and grabbed more than 600 rebounds prior to coming to Youngstown State. He also owns a career field-goal percentage of .543 and a career free-throw percentage of .729. He needs just 181 more points for 1,000 for his career. 

Rush, Reid Nearing 200 3s
Youngstown State fifth-year seniors Brandon Rush and Ziggy Reid on both approaching the 200 career made 3-pointers plateau. Rush has made 196 3s during his career, including 77 last season with the Penguins. Reid has connected on 148 3-pointers and made 55 in 2022-23 at Merrimack.

Langdon Nearing Marks
Fifth-year senior Bryson Langdon is approaching a couple of career milestones. The Chicago, Ill., native has scored 732 career points and dished out 331 career assists. He needs just 268 points to reach 1,000 for his career and 69 more assists for 400.
