Cote Earns Silver Medal at IBF World Championships

While the Youngstown State bowling team opened the 2023-24 season with a runner-up finish at the Penguin Classic, one of its student-athletes was across the world earning a silver medal at the international level.

Junior Jade Cote, a native of Farnham, Quebec, earned a silver medal in the trios format for Team Canada at the IBF World Championships. Cote joined with Karine Bouchard and Brittney Turcotte to finish second in the ladies trio at the tournament held at the Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club in Salmiya, Kuwait.

Cote spent nearly two weeks in Kuwait at the event, which had competition in singles, doubles, trios and team formats. A total of 138 men and 72 women from 23 countries participated in this year's event.

Previously for Team Canada, Cote earned a bronze medal in trios at the Youth Pan American Championship in August.

As a Penguin, Cote has averaged 198.7 in 99 career traditional games. She has also been a staple in Baker competition with an average of 20.13 pins per frame. Her career strike percentage of 50.52 is the best in program history. She will return to the team and be ready for the Penguins' next tournament, the Sunshine State Classic in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 27-29.
