
Penguins Battle For 4-3 Victory Over Weber State

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Youngstown State women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over Weber State on Saturday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
YSU (2-1) won two of three doubles contests to earn the point and picked up three victories in singles for the programs first win over the Wildcats (1-2) in three tries.
In doubles play, the Guins picked up a 6-2 win at No. 3 as Elisa Rigazio and Eliska Masarikova beat Yuuna Ukita and Megan Lombardi. WSU picked up a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles so the point came down to a clash at No. 1. The Penguins picked up a 7-6 win as Cecilia Rosas and Julia Marko beat Ana Morett and Pei-Hsuan Kuo.
In singles play, YSU won in straight sets at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to win the contest. At No. 3, Marko beat Yuuna Ukita by a score of 6-4, 6-1. Lili Minich picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sicely Ferreira at No. 6. At No. 5, Rigazio deafeted Lombardi 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the win for the Guins. WSU won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 4 singles. At No. 1, Rosas was ahead of Morett 6-1, 5-3 when the match ended.
The Guins conclude their trip to Vegas on Sunday with a contest against UNLV. First serve for the contest against the Rebels is set for 1 p.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Pacific time.
