Penguins Fall At UNLV To Wrap Up Vegas Trip

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to UNLV on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Penguins (2-2) fought hard during the doubles portion of the match. After UNLV picked up a 6-2 win at No. 3, YSU earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Cecilia Rosas and Julia Marko polished off a 3-0 trip with a win over Molly Helgesson and Zita Kovacs. The Rebels were able to earn the point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
YSU had it's most successful Vegas trip in school history. The Penguins earned their first-ever wins over UTEP and Weber State while scoing a high of three points against UNLV,
The Rebels (3-0) won the first three completed singles matches before the Penguins closed out the match winning the final three. At No. 5, Elisa Rigazio earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Aura Fang for the first YSU win. At No. 1, Rosas overcame a 6-4 first-set defeat to beat Molly Helgesson 7-6 (4) and 10-7. Lili Minich picked up a win after tying her second set 5-all with CoCo Zhao.
YSU returns to action on Saturday when they play host to Ball State. First serve for the Penguins home opener against the Cardinals is set for 4 p.m. at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
