
Penguins Solid Throughout Lineup In Win Over Bowling Green

The Youngstown State women's tennis team won all three doubles contests and five of six singles matches in a 6-1 marathon win over Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The victory for YSU (4-4) was the first against the Falcons since 2015 and just the second in program history. Bowling Green drops to 2-4 on the season.
The Penguins jumped on BGSU early with a strong effort in doubles. At No. 1, Cecilia Rosas and Julia Marko picked up a 6-4 win. In action at No. 2, Jessica Stanmore and Lili Minich earned a 6-3 win. In play at No. 3, Eliska Masarikova and Elisa Rigazio also won 6-4.
In singles, YSU won three matches in straight sets and claimed two more wins in three sets.
Marko won her match 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 2, Masarikova earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory. At No. 6, Minich clinched the win for YSU with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Stanmore battled back to win her match at No. 5 in three sets. She lost her first set 6-4 before winning the next two 6-4, 7-5. Rosas also overcame a 6-4 loss in the first set to win 6-3, 7-6 (5) in the next two sets to pick up the victory.
YSU returns to action next Sunday when it visits Ball State. First serve against the Cardinals is set for 1 p.m.
