Two Place in Top Five as Penguins Finish Second at Butler Fall Invitational

Danae Rugola and Titita Loudtragulngam each placed in the top five to guide the Youngstown State women's golf team to a second-place finish on Tuesday in the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Golf & Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Penguins finished with a three-round team total of 916, which ranks as the ninth-lowest 54-hole performance in program history. On Monday, YSU fired team scores of 305 and 306 in the first two rounds, respectively. The Guins closed out the tournament with a final-round 305 on Tuesday. Youngstown State finished 16 strokes behind the tournament champion Austin Peay and seven strokes in front of third-place UIC.
Rugola finished tied for second place with a three-round score of 223 (75-75-73) to earn her second consecutive top-five finish. The senior's opening-round 75 featured nine pars and a pair of birdies while her second-round 75 also included nine pars and two birdies. Rugola's final-round 73 featured 11 pars and two birdies as she carded an even-par 35 on the back nine.
Loudtragulngam finished tied for fifth with a three-round 226 (74-75-77). The junior's opening-round 74 included eight pars and three birdies as she posted a one-over-par 36 on the back nine. Loudtragulngam's second-round 75 featured 12 pars and a birdie on the par-three No. 8. The Chonburi, Thailand, native made par or better on 10 of her final 11 holes during the second session. During the final round, she carded 10 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 10.
Puthita Khuanrudee finished tied for 14th with a three-round total of 231 (78-75-78). The fifth-year senior's opening-round 78 featured 12 pars while her second-round 75 included eight pars and three birdies. Khuanrudee's final-round 78 featured eight pars and a birdie on the par-three No. 15.
Lizzie Saur finished tied for 36th with a three-round 237 (78-81-78). The sophomore's first-round 78 included 10 pars while her second-round 81 featured seven pars and a birdie on the par-three No. 8. During the final session on Tuesday, Saur carded eight pars and a birdie on No. 8.
Madie Smithco finished tied for 48th with a three-round score of 240 (82-81-77). The junior's opening-round 82 included 10 pars while her second-round 81 featured six pars and a pair of birdies. During the final round, Smithco carded 12 pars as she fired a one-over-par 36 on the front nine.
Playing as an individual, Chaela Barnett finished tied for 58th with a three-round 244 (80-82-82). The true freshman's first-round 80 included six pars and three birdies while her second-round 82 featured 10 pars. Barnett's final-round 82 featured nine pars.
Austin Peay won the tournament title by 16 strokes with a three-round team total of 900. Youngstown State finished ahead of fellow Horizon League members IUPUI and Northern Kentucky. Austin Peay's Taylor Dedmen earned medalist honors by six strokes with a three-round 217 (73-75-69).
Youngstown State will conclude its fall schedule on Oct. 15-16 with the Lady Blue Hen Invitational hosted by Delaware at Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
