Fishers, Ind. - The Youngtown State men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped a busy weekend at the Butler Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
The Penguins competed against Xavier, Indianapolis, Ball State, Butler and Hillsdale. The men scored 423 points while the women had 293 points.
Men's Highlights
- Fabian Gines took first place in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 15:57.16. He won the event by more than 40 seconds. Gines was second in the 500 free with a time of 4:38.86.
- Cody Thill won the one-meter dive with a score of 233.47 and took first in the three-meter dive with a score of 204.52.
- Soma Albert was second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.39.
- Karan Raju was third in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.53.
- Zach Chesman placed fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.04.
- Lucas Duarte was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.46 seconds and the 200 back with a time of 1:56.76.
- Jasper Liekens was fifth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:56.86.
Women's Highlights
- Tess Weiskopf took first place in the one-meter dive with a score of 235.50.
- Dasha Toth won the three-meter dive with a score of 210.15.
- Kayla Wrasman was second in the three-meter with a 205.05 and second in the one-meter with a 220.50.
- Brooke Schuette finished fourth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:29.72.
- Hailey Clark was fourth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 18:30.64 and was 10th in the 200 yard breaststroke.
The Penguins are next in action at the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 16-19.
