Youngstown State Earns CSCAA Academic Honors

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced that the Youngstown State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have earned Scholar All-America honors for their efforts in the classroom last semester. The teams earned the honor after posting GPAs of 3.67 and 3.46 respectively
"Coach Brad Smith and his staff continue to set the standard for success both in the pool and the classroom," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of Youngstown State and Athletic Director Ron Strollo, President Jim Tressel, and Dr. Chet Cooper (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 48 men's and women's student-athletes."
The men's program had the sixth-highest GPA in the nation this past spring behind only Stanford, Brown, Denver, Georgetown and Harvard.
In total, 721 programs from 426 institutions earned the honor. CSCAA will name its individual Scholar All-America team next week.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
