
Penguins Announce 2021-22 Team Captains

The Youngstown State women's and men's swimming and diving team has selected four captains for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, Head Coach Brad Smith announced on Thursday. Those individuals selected to serve as captains include Gina Ricciardi, Olivia Wilcox, Mallory Pitstick and Wilson Cannon.
"I'm proud of these individuals for being selected by their coaches and peers to lead their team next year," Smith said. "Each brings a unique set of strengths that will complement each other. These individuals and their collaborative efforts will undoubtedly help our team continue to move towards greater aspirations."
Pitstick will be a senior, Cannon and Wilcox are entering their junior campaign while Ricciardi will be in her second year with the program.
A native of Ottawa, Ill., Pitstick has been with the program since 2018. This past spring she placed a career-best 11th in the 400 IM and the 200 breaststroke at the Horizon League Championships. In her career, she has placed in the top 20 at the leauge meet on seven occasions.
Wilcox, a native of Mantorville, Minn., joined the program in the fall of 2019. In her first appearance at the Horizon League Championships she earned an 11th-place finish in the 100 butterfly and placed 17th in the 200 back.
Cannon, a native of Mansfield, Ohio, finished 12th in the 100-yard butterfly and was 15th in the 100-yard freestyle at the Horizon League Championships.
Ricciardi is a graduate of Cardinal Mooney and will be in her second season with the program.
