Kerr Sets Mark in 100 Breast, Places Fourth at HL Meet

Indianapolis, Ind. - Youngstown State freshman Ella Kerr placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a school record time of 1:03.20 to highlight the Penguins' efforts on Friday at the Horizon League Swimming Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Kerr broke the previous mark set by Hannah Reynolds (1:04.02) in February 2016. Kerr's top-five finish was the second for the Penguins during this year's meet.
In the 400 IM, Aida Jurinovics was eighth with a time of 4:32.00. Also in the 400 IM, Mallory Pitstick was 11th with a time of 4:36.28, Jael Dankle was 14th with a time of 4:38.40 and Josie Preski palced 15th clock a time 4:39.76.
Olivia Wilcox had a 14th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.32 seconds. In the 200-yard freestyle, Aubrey Whitaker finished with a time of 1:53.41 to finish in 10th place. Brittany Sage picked up a 15th-place performance in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.22.
YSU had two swimmer place in the top 15 in the 100 backstroke. Placing 10th was Jamie Leming with a time of 57.95 seconds while Kat Keller finished 15th with a time of 59.82 seconds.
The Penguins conclude the swimming portion of the Championships on Saturday with prelims at 10:15 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Events on tap for Saturday include the 1,650 Freestyle, the
200 Backstroke, the 100 Freestyle, the 200 Breaststroke, the 200 Butterfly and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
