The Youngstown State women's golf team tied for 10th place in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on Sunday at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Penguins finished with a two-round team score of 629 after carding rounds of 313 and 316 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Katlyn Shutt (78-78) and Danae Rugola (79-77) each recorded a two-round score of 156 to finish tied for 26th.
Shutt's first-round 78 featured nine pars and two birdies as she made par or better on each of her final five holes. After shooting six over par on the front nine, she bounced back to fire an even-par 36 on the back nine. The senior's final-round 78 included 10 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 11.
Rugola's first-round 79 featured 12 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 9. She shot an even-par 36 with seven pars and a birdie on the front nine. Rugola made par or better on 12 of her first 14 holes during the first round of play. The sophomore's second-round 77 included 10 pars and two birdies as she was just one over par over her first nine holes.
Christina Lewis (79-82), Ally St. Clair (77-84) and Tori Utrup (82-79) each carded a two-round 161 to finish tied for 44th.
Lewis' first-round 79 featured eight pars and three birdies. On the front nine, she shot an even-par 36 with three consecutive birdies from No. 5 to No. 7. Lewis made par or better on eight of nine holes from No. 5 to No. 13.
St. Clair fired a career-low round of 77 in the first round of play on Saturday. The round featured nine pars and two birdies as she was just one over par on the front nine.
Utrup's second-round 79 included 10 pars and a birdie on the par-five No. 4. She made par or better on eight of her first 12 holes during the final round of action.
Ball State posted a two-round total of 605 to win the tournament title by 10 strokes. Bowling Green, which held a seven-stroke lead after a first-round 294, tied for second place with Akron while Tiffin and Toledo rounded out the top five. The Penguins finished ahead of Horizon League foes Oakland and UIC while Detroit Mercy tied for sixth.
Akron's Jenn Davis took home medalist honors by two strokes with a two-round total of 144 (73-71).
Youngstown State will have its final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships on Saturday when it hosts a dual match against Cleveland State at Youngstown Country Club in Youngstown, Ohio.
