Dankle, Kerr Place Third on Final Day of HL Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. - Freshman Jael Dankle was third in the 1,650-yard freestyle and freshman Ella Kerr was third in the 200-yard breaststroke as the Penguins had a strong showing on the final day of the Horizon League Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Overall, YSU had a strong showing the 1,650 freestyle. Dankle led the way with a personal-best time of 17:17.94 to place third. Josie Preski placed 10th with a time of 17:51.51 and Aida Jurinovics was 12th clocking a 17:52.85.
Kerr's time of 2:17.20 in the finals gave her an impressive third-place performance. The previous record time was 2:18.09 set by Samantha Roberts in March 2013. Mallory Pitstick placed 10th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:23.57 while Brittany Sage was 15th clocking a 2:25.06
Jamie Leming finished eighth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.26. Aubrey Whitaker turned in a time of 52.57 seconds to finish 11th in the 100-yard freesyle. Jurinovics added a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.88.
YSU concluded the event with a time of 3:32.88 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
