Guins Sweep Weekend Series From Cleveland State

The Youngstown State women's tennis team beat Cleveland State 5-2 for the second straight day at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday.
The Penguins (11-7 and 4-0) won two of three doubles contests and earned wins in four singles contests to earn the 5-2 decision over the Vikings (1-9, 0-4). YSU has won seven of eight matches since Feb. 20.
Cleveland State won at No. 1 doubles while Tamara Teufl and Eliska Masarikova cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Claudia Barboza and Jessica Stanmore trailed 3-1 before winning the final five points to earn a 6-3 win and give the Guins the doubles point.
In singles, YSU won in straight sets at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
At No. 2, Cecilia Rosas picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Klara Mrcela. At No. 4, Elvira Esteo earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Selma Tounsi. Masarikova won 6-3, 6-4 over Bethany Yauch at No. 5 while Stanmore defeated Kateryna Avram 7-6, 6-1. Stanmore trailed 5-1 in the first set before rallying for the win.
Masarikova has a team-high eight-match winning streak while Stanmore and Rosas have both won seven straight. Esteo has won all four of her Horizon League contests.
At No. 1, Teufl dropped a straight-set decision to Miruna Vasilescu while at No. 3, Lucia Zagar dropped a 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 decision to Blanche Lenoan.
The Penguins return to action next weekend when they visit Oakland on Saturday and Sunday. Both contests are set to start at 4:30 p.m.
