Penguins Drop Hard Fought Contest At UNLV

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to UNLV on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The teams split the six singles matches, but the Rebels earned the close win via taking the doubles point.
In singles play, Cecilia Rosas earned an impressive 6-0, 6-3 win against Connie Li at No. 2 while Jessica Stanmore earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Aura Fang. The Rebels earned straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
The match came down to three-set battles at No. 1 and No. 5 singles.
At No. 1, Tamara Teufl dropped her first set, 6-0, before earning a 6-3 win in the second. She fought off three match points against Izumi Asano, however Asano earned a 6-4 third-set win to take the match and give UNLV the dual.
At No. 5 singles, Eliska Masarikova came back after losing her first set 6-1 to Sam Smith to win the match with 6-4, 6-4 set victories.
YSU concludes its trip to Vegas with a match against Florida Atlantic on Sunday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Pacific Time.
