Penguins Pick Up Home Win Over St. Bonaventure

The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (5-6) won the doubles point by winning both completed matches. At No. 1 doubles, Cecilia Rosas and Elvira Esteo picked up their sixth win of the season with a 6-3 win. At No. 2, Lucia Zagar and Jessica Stanmore won 6-1 while at No. 3, Claudia Barboza and Eliska Masarikova were ahead 5-4 when the point was clinched.
In singles, YSU earned straight set wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5. At No. 1, Rosas won 7-6, 6-4 against Sofia Franco. At No. 2, Zagar won 6-2, 7-6 (4) against Anastasia Gubanova. In play at No. 4, Masarikova won 6-1, 6-2 against Emily Stanley. At No. 5, Stanmore won 6-1, 6-2 against Buse Gunay. At No. 3, Esteo won her first set before Amelia Haley retired. The Bonnies did not have a No. 6 singles player for the match.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they play host to Saint Francis at 1 p.m. and Western Illinois at 4 p.m.
