
Penguins Complete Perfect Weekend With Win at Duquesne

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up its second win of the weekend beating Duquesne 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.
YSU (3-4) won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and won five of six singles matches against the Dukes (1-1).
In doubles play, Elvira Esteo and Cecilia Rosas earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 and Lucia Zagar and Jessica Stanmore picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3.
YSU won two three-set singles matches and won three in straight sets. Tamara Teufl won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Elvira Esteo won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 and Stanmore won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 for the two-set victories. In the two three-set wins, YSU dropped the first set before winning the next two. At No. 2, Rosas dropped a 6-2 first set before winning the next two 6-4, 6-2. At No. 5, Eliska Masarikova lost 6-3 in the first set before rallying for 7-5, 6-4 wins.
The Penguins are next in action on Friday when they play host to Toledo at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
