Penguins Beat Valparaiso, Win 11 Events at Tri-Meet

Valparaiso, Ind. - The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving team beat Valparaiso and dropped tough contests to Green Bay on Saturday afternoon at the Valparaiso Aquatic Center.
The men beat the Barons by a score of 220-68 and the women beat Valpo by a 223-69 margin. The Phoenix nipped the men by a score of 148-146 and the women, 155-144.
Winning events for the women were Kayla Wrasman (3m diving), Dasha Toth (1m diving), Hailey Clark (500 free/1000 free), Olivia Wilcox (100 back), Natalia Moreno (200 fly) and Aubrey Whitaker (200 free).
Wrasman won the three-meter with a score of 242.18 while Toth took first in the one-meter with total of 236.55. Tess Weiskopf was second in the one-meter dive with a total of 230.32. Toth picked up her first career victory in the one-meter events with a score of 236.55.
Clark won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:50.93 and the 500 free clocking a time of 5:19.87. Whitaker finished with a time of 1:56.99 in the 200 free to finish first. Moreno took first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:13.70. Wilcox took home first in the 100 back with a time of 59.88 seconds.
Whitaker was second in the 100 free with a time of 54.23 seconds. Averi McCarthy was second in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.54. Saige Kemeny was second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.35 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.14. Josie Preski was second in the 500 free with a time of 5:24.93.
Winners for the men were Aleksa Radenovic (100 fly/100 back), Fabian Gines (500 free/200 free), Soma Albert (200 back), Jasper Liekens (200 fly) and Gavin Webb (1000 free).
Webb won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:43.41 and was second in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.79. Gines won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.30 and took home a first-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:42.45. Radenovic won the 100 back with a time of 51.15 seconds and the 100 fly with a time of 49.68 seconds. Liekens won the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.70. Dominic Bono was second in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:50.95.
The women took first place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:51.02.
The Penguins are next in action on Saturday against Niagara and Saint Francis (Pa.). The tri-meet starts at 1 p.m.
