Penguins Open New Tennis Center With Win Over EMU

The Youngstown State women's tennis team opened the new YSU Indoor Tennis Center with a 5-2 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
The Penguins won the doubles point taking two of three matches and earned the dual win by winning three of the first four completed singles contests.
In doubles play, Lucia Zagar and Jessica Stanmore cruised to a 6-2 victory. After EMU won at No. 2 singles, Elvira Esteo and Cecilia Rosas earned a 7-5 triumph.
Rosas made quick work of Vasavi Ganesan at No. 2 singles earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory. The Eagles picked up a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 5 singles.
The Guins won the next two completed matches to claim the dual victory. Esteo defeated Vered Bert, 6-3, 6-2 and No. 4 while Tamara Teufl held on for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Isabelle Popma.
Jessica Stanmore rounded out the victory with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Julia Piatek.
The Penguins return to action on Friday when they play UT-San Antonio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
