2019-20 Women's Swimming & Diving Season In Review

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team showed improvement throughout the year under first season Head Coach Brad Smith.
Season Highlights

YSU had 12 top-10 finishes at the Horizon League Championships. Tiphaine Saint-Gilles, Casey Prentice, Aida Jurinovics and diver Tess Weiskopf led the way with a pair of top-10 placings.
- Tiphaine Saint-Gilles placed sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke at the HL Championships with a time of 2:21.11. Also in the event, Mallory Pitstick earned a strong 10th-place finish with a time of 2:22.40. Saint-Gilles earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.10.
- Aida Jurinovics had a best finish of sixth place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.56.
- Casey Prentice won the B Final in the 100-yard butterfly with an impressive swim of 56.06 seconds to place ninth in the event. Prentice lowered her school mark of 56.18 which she set last February at the HL Championships. Prentice finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.34 seconds. She finished eighth in the finals with a time of 23.87 seconds in the 50 free. Earlier in the day she set the school record in the event.
- Josie Preski placed eighth in the 1,650 Freestyle with a time of 17:28.64 and Jurinovics finished ninth with a time of 17:32.53. Jurinovics capped off a strong meet with a 14th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.22.
- Jamie Leming recorded a time of 57.32 seconds to place 10th in the 100 backstroke. Hannah Olger picked up a 16th-place finish in the event with a time of 59.52 seconds.
- In the one-meter dive, Tess Weiskopf had a score of 231.50 to finish in seventh place. She finished eighth in the 3-meter event.
- YSU earned dual meet wins against Valparaiso and Niagara.
- The year marked the end of the YSU swimming careers of Taylor Bishop, Rhianna Acosta, Paris Krug and Tiphaine Saint-Gilles.
- YSU was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American team during the fall semester.
- Posted five swimming times that rank in the top five in school history.
