Penguins Have Strong Performance In 5-2 Win Over Duquesne

Boardman - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a strong 5-2 win over Duquesne on Friday night at the Avalon Athletic Club of Boardman.
YSU (2-2) came out strong winning two of three matches to claim the doubles point. YSU earned a win at No. 1 doubles before Duquesne earned a win at No. 3 doubles. But Jessica Stanmore and Imaan Hassim earned a 7-5 win at No. 2. The match was Stanmore's debut for the Penguins.
In singles play, all four YSU wins came in three sets. Cassandra Moraleja rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 over Aishwanya Kona. At No. 2, Hassim won her first set before dropping her second against Natasha Novak. She came back to win the third, 6-4, to win the match. Elvira Esteo also won her match at No. 6 in straight sets. She won the third against Doniela Latoni. Lucia Zagar rallied after dropping her first set 6-4, to take the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 over Meredith Lee.
The Penguins are back in action on Saturday against Buffalo at the Avalon Athletic Club. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
