Men Set Six Program Records at Miami Invitational

The Youngstown State men's swimming and diving team set six school records in the three-day Miami Invitational which concluded on Saturday at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
Brenden Reeves, Karan Raju and Ben Gingher combined for the record-setting performances against the Redhawks.
Reeves broke the 100-yard backstroke mark with a time of 54.78 seconds leading off the 400-medley relay.
Gingher set the school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.09, which was good for a seventh-place finish. Gingher set the school mark in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.27 seconds as he finished second in the event. His final school record of the meet came in the 200-yard breaststroke. He posted a time of 2:03.68 which earned him a second-place finish.
Raju picked up a school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.80 seconds. That was good enough for a fourth-place finish while Wilson Cannon was fifth in the event with a time of 50.50 seconds. On Saturday, he set the school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.13 which earned him a fourth-place finish.
Christian Matthews was third in the one-meter dive with a score of 160.45 and third in the three-meter event with a score of 146.95.
Reeves was also sixth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:13.55. He posted a best time of 4:12.71 in the prelims.
To conclude the meet, Raju, Gingher, Jasper Liekens and Cannon had a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:10.20.
