Penguins Pick Up First Win Of Dual Season Against Saint Francis

Boardman, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over Saint Francis on Friday afternoon at the Avalon Athletic Club of Boardman.
The Penguins won five of the six singles matches against the Red Flash.
At No. 2, Tamara Teufl defeated Laura Gutierrez, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3, Lucia Zagar picked up a 6-4, 7-6 (1) win against Anouk Ma-Ajong. Cassandra Moraleja picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win over Camryn Rossa while Claudia Barboza earned a default point at No. 6.
YSU claimed the win at No. 3 doubles by default before battling for victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, Imaan Hassim and Barboza built a 4-3 lead before falling behind 5-4. The pair tied the contest at 5-5, fell behind 6-5 before forcing a tiebreaker at 6-all. In the tiebreaker, YSU scored the final three points to win 7-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Zagar and Teufl also built a lead on to have the Red Flash knot that match at 5-all. YSU dug in to win the last two points and earn a 7-5 victory.
YSU returns to action next Friday when it plays host to Duquesne. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
