
Cannon, Cheong, Relays Break School Records at Magnus Cup Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's swimming and diving team set school records in three individual events and all five relays at the Magnus Cup Invitational over the weekend at Cleveland State's Busbey Natatorium.
Brandon Cheong set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.08 seconds and in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.20 while Wilson Cannon 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.07 seconds in the prelims.
In the finals, Cannon had a time of 51.21 seconds to place 14th in the 100 fly. Cannon was also 14th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.01. Cheong placed 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 59.08 seconds. Also in the 100 breast, Zach Tomasic was 18th with a time of 1:00.20.
Cannon has a time of 46.77 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle to finish 11th. Cheong's performance in the 200-yard breaststroke placed him 13th.
The Penguins also established new school records in all five relay events. YSU had a time of 7:45.27 so set the mark in the 800-yard freestyle relay; clocked a 3:10.00 in the 400-yard freestyle relay; posted a 1:26.90 in the 200-yard free relay; had a 3:32.68 in the 400-yard medley relay and posted a 1:36.30 in the 200-yard medley relay.
In the team standings, YSU placed seventh out of 10 schools with 222 points. Cleveland State won the event while Xavier finished second.
