Penguins Defeat UIC 5-2 in Dual on Saturday

Chicago, Ill. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team continued its strong run of dual play with a 5-2 win over UIC on Saturday at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet Club.
The Penguins improve to 10-10 overall and 4-2 in Horizon League while UIC falls to 6-11 and 3-3.
In doubles play, YSU won two matches to earn the point. At No. 1, Joao Garretto and Vasilis Vardakis won 6-3 while at No. 2, Yossi Dahan and Danylo Veremeichuk won 6-2.
Veremeichuk, Garretto, Dahan and Vardakis picked up singles wins.
At No. 1, Veremeichuk won 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 over UIC's Johan Hedstrom. At No. 2, Garretto beat UIC's Niko Wasilewicz 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Vardakis stepped up at No. 3 with a 6-3, 7-6 win against Marco Nanni. At No. 5, Dahan earned an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Penguins end the regular season on Sunday when they take on IUPUI on Sunday.
