Four Reach Double Figures in 80-67 Loss to Northern Colorado

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Four players scored in double figures led by senior Cameron Morse's 17 points, but the Youngstown State men's basketball team dropped an 80-67 decision to Northern Colorado on Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Penguins fall to 2-3 while Northern Colorado improves to 3-2 on the year.
Sophomore Braun Hartfield scored 16 points and junior Tyree Robinson posted his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebouonds. Sophomore Jeremiah Ferguson added 10 points and three assists.
For the Bears, who shot 53.6 percent from the field, Jordan Davis scored a game-high 20 points while Andre Spight had 15. Jalen Sanders posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Jonah Radebaugh added 11 points.
Northern Colorado pushed its 10-point halftime lead to 13, 52-39, just three-and-a-half minutes into the second half after a layup by Tanner Morgan at the 16:29 mark.
Over the next four minutes, the Penguins used a 12-3 run to cut the deficit to four 55-51 with 12:21 left. Layups by Robinson and Morse cut the deficit to six, and, after a free throw by UNC's Anthony Johnson, Ferguson's old-fashioned 3-point play got the Penguins within four.
The Bears extended their lead to nine, 62-53, but a jumper by Morse and a layup by Hartfield got the Penguins back within five, 62-57 at the 9:25 mark. Hartfield's layup at the 6:53 mark kept the YSU deficit at five, 64-59, but the Penguins were held scoreless for the next 4:24 and the Bears' lead ballooned to 15, 75-60.
In the first half, Northern Colorado shot 57.6 percent from the field and made five 3-pointers. Youngstown State connected on 45.2 percent from the field and were just 3-of-12 from the free-throw line.
The Penguins trailed by eight, 17-9, but Michael Akuchie hit a 3-pointer and Ferguson's layup at the 11:39 mark got the Penguins within three.
The Bears, though, used a 14-4 run over a four-minute span to boost its lead to 13, 31-18, with nine minutes left.
Northern Colorado led by as many as 15, 42-27, with 3:20 left in the half, but the Penguins scored seven of the final nine points of the half to get within 10, 44-34, at halftime.
