Penguins Rally To Win Bulldog Florida Invitational By a Shot

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's golf team rallied from a four-shot deficit to win the Bulldog Florida Invitational by one stroke as the tournament concluded on Thursday at the Windsor Parke Golf Course.
On Tuesday, YSU had a low round of the 310 to card a two-day score of 630. The Penguins were two shots behind Butler after the first round and the Bulldogs had a 313 on Tuesday to finish with a 631. Southern Indiana, the first-round leader at 316, had a 325 and finished with a 641.
It marks the third tournament win of the season for the Guins and first of the spring.
Leading the surge on the final day was Aislynn Merling who shot a 74 and finished second with a two-round 156. Merling had a first-round 82 before rebounding strong for her second round.
Allison Mitzel, who was tied for the lead following the first round with a 76, had an 83 on Thursday and tied for sixth place. Tying Mitzel for sixth was Emily Rohanna who after firing an 84 on the first day, had a 75 for her second round.
Courtney Shutt and Mia Barchetti each had a 166 for the tournament. Shutt had rounds of 87 and 79 while Barchetti had a pair of 73's. Haliegh Guerrero had a two-round 172 (88-84) as well for the Guins.
The Penguins are back in action on March 29-30 when they participate in the Georgetown Hoya Invitational.
