Lackova, Brendel Earn Wins Against Toledo

Boardman - Dominika Lackova and Annina Brendel picked up singles victories to pace the Youngstown State women's tennis team against Toledo on Friday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. YSU dropped a 5-2 decision to the Rockets.
The Penguins (5-5) tried to rally after Toledo (6-3) won the doubles point and clinched victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
At No. 3, Brendel won her fifth straight match beating Mackenzie Bowman 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 4, Nehel Sahni almost battled back to beat Lauren Thai. Sahni dropped the first set 6-2 before rebounding to win the second set 6-2. She trailed 5-2 in the third set before closing within 5-4, but Thai was able to break Sahni to win the set 6-4.
Lackova followed with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pia Rygh. At No. 1, Marta Burak lost in three sets to Lexy Pitt. Burak dropped the first set 6-4 before taking the second 6-3. In the third, the set was tied at four, but Pitt won the last two points to claim the victory.
The Penguins are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Buffalo. The match at the Miller Tennis Center is set to start at 1 p.m.
