
Dow, Aranda Pick Up Two Wins, Orosz Sets School Mark at UIC

Chicago, Ill. - Youngstown State freshman Viktoria Orosz set the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Ashley Dow and Madison Aranda won two events and divers McKenzie Stelter and Lydia Scheringer qualified for the Zone C meet on Friday against UIC at the Flames Natatorium.
The Penguins dropped the dual meet by a score of 182-117 to the Flames.
YSU started the meet off on a strong note winning the 200-yard medley relay as Ashley Dow, Hannah Reynolds, Rachel Shipp and Jana Janson posted a time of 1:48.02 to win by .36 seconds over the Flames.
In the second event of the evening, Orosz finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle but registered a school record with a time of 10:11.41.
The Guins picked up wins in back-to-back events as Aranda won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.97 and Ashley Dow took first in the 100-yard backstroke at 58.52 seconds.
Reynolds came in second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.61 before Aranda placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.86. In the 50 free, Kolbrun Jonsdottir was third with a time of 25.11 seconds.
In the one-meter dive, Stelter and Scheringer had career-best performances placing second and third behind UIC's Whitney Johnson. Stelter scored a 287.25 to finish second while Scheringer had a 269.02.
Dow picked up her second win of the dual posting a time of 2:05.74 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Jonsdoittir finished second in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:27.57 while Orosz was second in the 500 free at 5:10.15.
Aranda won for the second time on the night taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.66 seconds.
YSU will be in action on Saturday at Green Bay. The dual meet is set to start at 1 p.m.
