YSU Drops 7-0 Decision to San Francisco at Golden Gate Park

San Francisco, Calif. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon at Golden Gate Park. YSU dropped three singles matches in three sets against the Dons.
YSU (5-7) lost in three sets at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to the Dons (9-2).
At No. 1 singles, Margarita Sadovnikova lost 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to Andrea Ka after taking the first set. At No. 3, Annina Brendel dropped the first set 6-2, won the second 6-0 and lost the third 6-1 to Sofia Holmberg. At No. 4, Dominika Lackova lost 3-6, 7-6, 10-6 to Marina Nikolic.
The Dons had straight set wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 in the match and earned the doubles point by winning two of three matches. Sadovnikova and Marta Burak picked up a win for YSU at No. 1 by an 8-4 score over Thyra Taune and Holmberg.
The Penguins are in action on Tuesday when they take on San Jose State. The Guins face the Spartans at 6 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central at the SJSU Spartan Courts.
