Guins Rally For Final Four Wins to Oust FlU, 4-3

Miami, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team won the final four singles matches to overcome a 3-0 deficit and knock off Florida International 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.
The Penguins trailed 3-0 after dropping the doubles point and singles matches at No. 3 and No. 5. However, the Guins (5-3) won in straight sets at No. 4 and in three sets at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 to pull out a come-from-behind win over the Golden Panthers (2-2).
With the win, the Penguins have won five of their last six duals of the spring and have victories in four consecutive dual matches.
FIU won all three doubles matches and Carolyn Jesko dropped a decision at No. 5 singles while Annina Brendel was defeated at No. 3.
After dropping the doubles point and the first two singles matches, Margarita Sadovnikova sparked the rally with a come-from-behind three-set win at No. 1.
Sadovnikova dropped her first set 6-0 to Carlotta Orlando before winning the next two 6-2, 6-2 and capturing the first point.
At No. 4, Dominicka Lackova beat FIU's Tina Mohorcic in straight sets at 6-3, 7-5 to shrink the deficit to 3-2.
Freshman Nehel Sahni, who clinched Thursday's win at Florida Atlantic, won a deciding third set 6-1 after winning the first set 6-2 and dropping the second set 6-4.
With the match on the line, Marta Burak dropped her first set to Nina Nagoda 6-4. But Burak won the second set 6-4 and after falling behind 3-0, evened the third set up at six. She won the tiebreaker 7-4 to give the Penguins the dual victory.
Head Coach Mickael Sopel said he was excited the Penguins rallied for the win and went 2-0 on its trip to Florida.
"Aside from Ohio State, I think this was the best team we played so far this season," Sopel said. "This was a really great trip for the team and I am proud of what we have accomplished so far."
YSU will look to keep its winning streak going next Saturday at the Boardman Tennis Center against IPFW. The dual is slated to start at 4 p.m.
