Game Preview
• After a 12-day hiatus, the Youngstown State men's basketball team closes out 2014 and non-league play when it hosts Northern Kentucky, Wednesday, Dec. 31.

About Northern Kentucky
• Northern Kentucky enters the game with an overall record of 6-7 and is coming off a 76-55 loss at Northwestern on Dec. 27.
• Leading the Norse is Taylor Persons with 12.8 points per game. Persons is the only player averaging in double figures for the Norse.
The Northern Kentucky Series
• This is the the ninth meeting between Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky and the first since 1981.
• Youngstown State owns a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last five contests.
• In the last meeting, the Penguins defeated the Norse, 81-77, on March 2, 1981, in Highland Heights, Ky.
• All eight previous meetings happened between 1976 to 1981.
Last Time Out
• The Penguins are coming off a 92-71 win over Wilberforce on Dec. 19.
• Junior Bobby Hain recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high-tying 17 rebounds.
• Hain, who leads the Horizon League in double-doubles, also had a career-high four blocks against the Bulldogs.
• Senior Shawn Amiker scored 15 points with six rebounds. Junior Shaun Stewart tied a career high with 14 points and sophomore Marcus Keene added 13 points.

Slocum In Elite Company
• Youngstown State Head Coach Jerry Slocum ranks among the best in the history of college basketball in terms of overall wins.
• Slocum ranks 37th all-time with 696 career victories eighth among active Division I coaches in all-time wins.
• He is just four wins away from 700 for his career.
• Slocum is also just one of two NCAA Division I head coaches in their 40th year as a head coach. The other is Duke's Mike Krzyzewski.
Games Coached
• As of Dec. 19, Youngstown State Head Coach Jerry Slocum ranks third among active NCAA Division I coaches in games coached.
• Slocum, who has coached in 1,195 career games, is behind Duke's Mike Krzyzewski with 1,298 and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim with 1,280.
• Slocum will coach his 1,200th career game against Green Bay on Sunday, Jan. 11.
Hain Double the Trouble
• Junior Bobby Hain leads the Horizon League with six double-doubles.
• He recorded his most recent with a 17-point, 17-rebound effort in a 92-71 win over Wilberforce on Dec. 19.
• It also marked the 15th of his career.
• He turned in a career night on Dec. 17 when he scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed a career-high-tying 17 rebounds against Kennesaw State.
• Hain made 12-of-19 field-goal attempts and eight of his rebounds came on the offensive glass.
• Hain now is averaging 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, which is a league-best.
45 and Above
• Youngstown State has a great chance of winning when it make 45 percent of its field-goal attempts.
• The Penguins are 6-1 when they shooting at least 45 percent from the field.
Amiker Stepping Up
• Senior Shawn Amiker is off to great start for the Penguins this season.
• Amiker is averaging 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
• He also has three double-doubles and ranks fourth in the Horizon League in rebounding.
• Over the last 10 games, Amiker is averaging 14.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and shooting 55.4 percent (62-of-112) from the field.
Keene Leads Horizon League
• With his 46 3-pointers made, sophomore Marcus Keene leads the Horizon League in that category.
• He also leads the league with 3.3 3-pointers made per game.
No Cole In DJ's Stocking
• Senior DJ Cole has been one of the most generous point guards in the NCAA and the Horizon League.
• Cole ranks second in the Horizon League with 5.6 assists per game, and ranks sixth nationally with 78 total assists.
• He also ranks sixth all-time at YSU with 346 career assists.
• This season, Cole has dished out at least five assists in a game on eight different occasions.
