Game Preview
• The Youngstown State men's basketball team takes on Missouri Valley Conference member Illinois State, Saturday, Nov. 29, at Redbird Arena in Normal, Ill.
• Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. ET and can be heard on 570 AM WKBN.
About Illinois State
• Illinois State is currently 2-2 on the year and is coming off an 84-80 loss to Seton Hall on Nov. 24.
• The Redbirds are led by DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell, who is averaging 15.3 points per game.
• Daishon Knight and Bobby Hunter are also averaging in double figures with 14.5 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.

• This is the first meeting between Youngstown State and Illinois State.

• The Penguins are coming off their third straight win after defeating UMKC, 66-63, on Nov. 26.

• As of Nov. 28, Youngstown State Head Coach Jerry Slocum ranks third among active NCAA Division I coaches in games coached.
• Slocum, who has coached in 1,188 career games, is behind Duke's Mike Krzyzewski with 1,294 and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim with 1,238.
Keene Heating Up
• Sophomore Marcus Keene has been becoming Youngstown State's go-to player recently.
• Keene hit the game-winning 3-pointer against UMKC on Nov. 26 and has scored at least 20 points in three of the last five games.
• Keene scored 21 against UMKC on Nov. 26, a career-high 28 against UNCG on Nov. 23 and 24 against Central Michigan on Nov. 18.
• Over the last five games, Keene is averaging 19.2 points per game and has made 18 3-pointers.
Amiker Doubles Up
• For the second time in his career and this season, senior Shawn Amiker recorded a double-double with 18 points and a career-high 11 rebounds against UMKC on Nov. 26.
• Amiker's first double-double was against Kent State on Nov. 15 with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
•Amiker leads the Penguins and ranks fourth in the Horizon League with 7.1 rebounds per game.
DJ the Distributor
• Senior point guard DJ Cole continues to impress with his ball distribution.
• Cole has 6.7 assists per game and has 47 assists in just seven games.
• Cole tied a career-high with 12 assists against Longwood and recorded his second career double-double with 18 points.
Keene Hits For Career High, Again
• For the second time in a week, sophomore Marcus Keene scored a career high.
• Keene, who was named to the EMU Showcase All-Tournament Team, scored a career-high 28 points with career-best six 3-pointers made against UNCG on Nov. 23.
• His previous high was 24 against Central Michigan on Nov. 18.
Hain Ties Career High
• Sophomore Bobby Hain posted his second 20-point game of the season against UNCG on Nov. 23.
• That output tied his career-scoring high of 20 against Oberlin on Nov. 16.
Guins Heating Up Perimeter
• The Penguins are picking up the tempo from the 3-point line as of late.
• Over the last five games, the Penguins have made 34 3-pointers for an average of seven per game.
• The Penguins made nine against UNCG on Nov. 23.
• YSU made eight in consecutive games against Central Michigan on Nov. 18 and Eastern Michigan on Nov. 21.
Mr. 300
• With 12 assists against Longwood on Nov. 22, senior DJ Cole became the eighth player in school history to record at least 300 assists.
• Cole ranks seventh all-time with 315 assists and needs 11 more to move into sixth place.
• Cole also ranks fifth in career assists in YSU's Division I era.
Two for 20
• Against UNCG on Nov. 23, Marcus Keene and Bobby Hain each reached the 20-point scoring plateau.
• Keene posted a career-high 28 points while Hain matched his career high of 20 points.
• The last time two players scored 20 points in a game was Shawn Amiker (25) and Kendrick Perry (22) against Detroit on Feb. 9, 2014.

• In the 82-72 win over Longwood, five players scored in double figures.

Keene Earns All-Tournament Team

• Junior Shaun Stewart reached double figures for the first time in his YSU career against Central Michigan on Nov. 18.
• Stewart scored a career-high 14 points, including 3-pointers against the Chippewas.
Hain Posts Career-High, Double-Double
• Junior Bobby Hain recorded his first double-double of the season and the 10th of his career with a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds against Oberlin on Nov. 16.
• Hain was 6-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
