Penguins Close Out Fall Slate With Fourth-Place Finish at Butler Invitational

The Youngstown State women's golf team finished fourth at the Butler Fall Invitational which concluded on Tuesday afternoon at the Highland Golf and Country Club. Aislynn Merling finished second after losing in a playoff to Butler's Jenna Peters.
The Penguins were in second place following Monday's round of 303, 10 shots behind the Bulldogs. On Tuesday, Western Kentucky had the low round and won the event with a 603 while Butler was second at 604, IUPUI moved into third at 608 and the Guins dropped to fourth at 609. The Penguins had a final round 306.
Merling was four shots off the pace following a first round 73. Her steady play again allowed her to post a 73 while Peters carded a 77. Peters won medalist honors with a par on the first playoff hole.
Allison Mitzel earned a 10th-place finish with a two-round 150. She was in fourth place after the first round with a 72 before carding a 78 on Tuesday. Emily Dixon posted a 19th-place finish with a 158 (81-77), Emily Rohanna was 30th with a 163 (85-78) and Mia Barchetti carded a 166 (77-89) to place 36th.
This was the final event of the fall for the Penguins who will return to action in February at the Georgia Bulldogs Invitational in Athens, Ga.
