
Penguins Win Five Events During Busy YSU Invitational

Freshman thrower Jennifer Neider, junior sprinter Ciara Jarrett, triple jumper Dorian Davis and throwers John Seaver and George Thomas all won events during a full day of action at the YSU Invitational held at the WATTS on Friday.
Thomas won the weight throw with a toss of 16.36m and Seaver won the shot put with a heave of 16.43m while Eric Vandemia was second at 15.65m.
Jarrett won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.70 seconds and placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.68 seconds.
Davis won the triple jump with an impressive leap of 14.40m.
Neider won the shot put with a toss of 13.96m on her final throw while teammate Alison Roth was fourth at 13.22m.
Tarelle Irwin was second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.92 seconds. Irwin was third in the 60-meter dash at 6.94 seconds while Michael Davis was fifth at 7.02 seconds.
Freshman Jay Jakovina finished second in the high jump with a leap of 1.99m.
Also for the women, Nicole Pachol was second in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 58.21 seconds. Anna Pompeo placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:31.91. Katrina Rettburg was third in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m.
Kendall Homan finished fourth in the triple jump at 11.18m and was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.22 seconds. Megan Wesner was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.59 meters.
For the men, Kyle Joynes sixth in 5,000-meter run 15:22.60.
The Penguins return to action at the WATTS next Friday for the first day of the YSU Invitational.
