Penguins Best Raiders For First Time; Have Five Event Winners

Cleveland, Ohio - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team earned a 165-135 win over Wright State on Saturday afternoon at the Busbey Natatorium. YSU won five events in the meet, which also featured Cleveland State.
Winning events for the Penguins on Saturday were Ashley Dow (two), Bec Stafford (two) and Samantha Roberts.
Dow won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.51 seconds and the 200-yard back with a 2:07.39. She also placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.69.
Roberts won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.20. She was second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.84 behind CSU's Alice Sommerville.
Laura Paz was second in the 200-yard butterly with a time of 59.32 seconds and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.21.
Stafford won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 258.85 while Casey Hill was third 239.55. Stafford won the 3-meter event with a score of 286.45 and Hill was third at 240.15.
Megan Ciampa was third with a time of 2:11.19 in 200-yard backstroke.
In the 200-yard medley relay, YSU was second with a time of 1:49.21.
Against Cleveland State, YSU lost 204-96.
The Penguins return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 25 at UIC.
