
Penguins Fall to Cleveland State, 5-2

Cleveland, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback to Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon. YSU won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches against the Vikings.
At No. 1 singles, Marta Burak dropped the first set 7-5 to Catrine Bjerrehus but rallied to win the second 7-5 and take a third-set tiebreaker 10-6. At No. 2 singles, Lauren Hankle dispatched of Maria Lazaris 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles, CSU's Kara Sherwood defeated Carolyn Jesko 6-1, 6-2 while at No. 4 Nicole Janek beat Maria Puppo 6-0, 6-0 and Alex Power defeated Jennifer Moore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
In doubles action, YSU won a No. 1 with Burak and Jesko earning an 8-6 win over Bjerrehus and Power.
With the loss, the Penguins are now 0-12 and 0-2 in the Horizon League while the Vikings improve to 10-7 and 2-0.
YSU returns to action on Saturday, April 7 when it plays host to Green Bay.
