Tariq Ismail Named First-Team All-Horizon League

Indianapolis -- Youngstown State men's tennis player Tariq Ismail was named first-team All-Horizon Leauge, the conference announced on Thursday evening. Ismail was a second-team all-league selection last season.
He is the first Penguins men's tennis player to be named all-league since Tom Barth in 2004-05.
Ismail was part of a squad that won two Horizon League matches this year, which was the most in a single campaign since joining the league in 2001. YSU had won just a total of three conference matches prior to this season.
Ismail posted a team-high 19 victories in 2010-11. In Horizon League play, he earned wins over Detroit, Valparaiso and Green Bay. He had three-set losses against Wright State and Butler. He won his match against the Raiders earlier today at the HL Championships.
In his two seasons with the program, he has 30 victories - all coming at No. 1 singles action.
