Hill Represents YSU for Second Consecutive Year at Zone C Championships

Youngstown State sophomore diver Casey Hill (Bethlehem, Pa.) will compete at the Zone C Diving Championships which start on Thursday at The Ohio State University in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus. This is Hill's second consecutive time competing in the two years that she has been a Penguin.
The Zone meet is a qualifier for the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which are also being held at the University of Texas on March 17-19. Zone C, which features schools from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan, is set to send 10 women and seven men to the NCAA Championships.
At the Horizon League Championships, Hill finished first in the 3-meter dive scoring 284.20. She also came in sixth in the 1-meter dive. She earned first place in both of her events, the 1- and 3-meter dive, three different times this season against Niagara, UIC and at the Highlander Invitational.
During her sophomore season, she made her personal-best score in the 3-meter dive at the Clarion Diving Invitational scoring 308.80 which is the second best score in school history (Brandi Goettsch 2001, 323.40). Her best score in the 1-meter dive is 284.85, also second score in school history (Kalyn Leveto 2004, 329.55).
At the Zone C meet, the women's 3-meter event is set for Thursday while the 1-meter competition is set for Friday at 1 p.m. each day. The springboard events shall have a preliminary competition of six dives, including at least one dive from each group without limit on degree of difficulty.
After six rounds there will be a cut to the top 18 divers. The top 18 divers will complete six dives, including at least one diver from each group without limit of degree of difficulty. The diving order of the top 18 finalists will not change from the preliminary diving order.
