Sadovnikova Picks Up Win as Guins Fall at Pittsburgh, 6-1

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 dual match to Pittsburgh on Wednesday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Club. Sophomore Margarita Sadovnikova picked up a win at No. 1 singles for the Penguins.
Sadovnikova came from behind to beat Pittsburgh's Elizabeth Adams 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 to pick up a point for the Guins. YSU dropped all five other singles matches in straight sets with Karolina Sjokvist dropped a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 decision to Kimmy Borza at No. 4.
In doubles play, Hannah Patten and Carolyn Jesko teamed up for a 9-7 win over Minh Evans and Taylor Washington, but the Panthers won the other two matches to earn the point. Patten and Jesko trailed 4-3 and 6-5, but battled back to earn the victory.
At No. 1, Sadovnikova and Sjokvist led Adams and Gabrielle Catanzariti 5-3 early, but he Panthers won five of the final six points for the win.
YSU returns to action on April 2 when it plays host to UIC at the Boardman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
