Men's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win At Chicago State

Homewood, Ill. -- The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Chicago State on Friday night at the Homewood-Flossmoor Courts. YSU won five six singles matches while earning the doubles point.
At No. 1 singles, junior Tariq Ismail earned a hard-fought 7-6, 2-6, 10-8 decision over Ankit Chopra.
At No. 3 singles, Max Schmerin cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Viet Lam. Zeeshan Ismail won 6-2, 6-0 over Dave Regus at No. 4 and at No. 5, Rodrigo Campos beat Michael Chew 6-0, 6-0. Rob Emig won at No. 6 by default.
The lone Penguin to suffer a setback was Felipe Rosa at No. 2 singles. Rosa lost 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 to CSU's Armaan Choudhary.
In doubles action, Schmerin and Tariq Ismail defeated Chopra and Choudhary 8-7 at No. 1 while Campos and Rosa beat Lam and Regus 8-0. YSU (Emig and Campos) won at No. 3 by default.
YSU (4-8 and 0-1) returns to Horizon League action on Sunday morning when they visit Green Bay. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
