
Penguins Impressive in 7-0 Win at Niagara

North Tonawanda, N.Y. -- The Youngstown State men's tennis team won its second straight dual picking up an impressive 7-0 win over Niagara on Saturday night. YSU won the doubles point before taking five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
After winning all three matches in doubles action, the Guins went on to win all six singles matches.
YSU swept at Nos. 2 through 6 with Max Schmerin (No. 2), Felipe Rosa (No. 3), Zeeshan Ismail (No. 4), Rodrigo Campos (No. 5) and Rob Emig (No. 6) all winning. Emig won a first-set tiebreaker before winning his second set 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, junior Tariq Ismail battled back from a first-set 3-6 to win the next two 6-3, 6-2 to complete the sweep.
Head Coach Mark Klysner said he was pleased with the his team played in doubles and that gave them the momentum to have success in singles play.
"I was extremely impressed by the way the guys handled themselves in closing their matches. To lose last year to Niagara 5-2, I know the guys were hungry to come out and try and reverse that outcome. It's a great start to the weekend and heading into our match with Buffalo."
The Penguins have a quick turnaround as they play a dual against Buffalo on Sunday morning.
