Roberts Fourth, Records Fall on Day Three of HL Championships

Cleveland -- Sophomore Samantha Roberts set a school mark in the 100-yard breaststroke and junior Kirstin Walker eclipsed the top time in the 200-yard freestyle to highlight the Youngstown State swimming and diving team's efforts on Friday during the Horizon League Championships at the Busbey Natatorium.
Roberts broke her school record in the 100-yard breaststroke clocking a time of 1:04.40 to finish fourth at the HL Championships. Roberts was also 12th in the 400 IM with the second-best time in school history at 4:35.20. She will compete in the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday.
Junior Kirstin Walker set a school record in 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.73 as she placed 12th.
Junior Nishani Cicilson was 11th in 100 backstroke with a career-best effort of 58.21 seconds. Cicilson's time was just .03 off the school record.
Freshman Laura Paz was 14th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.08 seconds.
Also in the 400 IM, Megan Ciampa was 13th with a time of 4:35.66 and Rachel Harbarger was 15th with a time of 4:40.96.
Sophomore Casey Hill was sixth in the one-meter dive after winning the 3-meter on Wednesday night. Hill, who was first in the prelims with a score of 271.35, had a 232.45 in the finals. Senior Amanda Carpin finished 10th in her final competition with a 223.35.
In the team standings, the Penguins are in sixth place overall with 220.5 points. Green Bay leads the women's competition with 566.5 points.
The final day of the Horizon League Championships gets underway tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.
