
Penguins Return to Pool Dropping Dual at Ohio, 177-116

Athens, Ohio -- The Youngstown State swimming and diving team returned to action for the first time since November swimming a dual at Ohio on Friday. The Penguins suffered a 166-117 defeat to the Bobcats at the OU Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Samantha Roberts had a solid performance winning the 100 and 200-yard butterflys as well as the 400-yard IM.
Roberts erearned a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.51 and came in first in the 200 with a time of 2:25.12. She also took the top spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:53.79.
In the diving events, sophomore Casey Hill was second in both the one and three meter events. In the one-meter, Hill had a score of 248.17 while in the three meter scored 253.58.
Junior Kirstin Walker placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.71 seconds. Senior Caitlin Cook finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:24.25. Freshman Megan Ciampa finished second in the 500-yard freestyle posting a time of 5:29.88. Also, freshman Laura Paz placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.92 seconds.
YSU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 15 when they play host to Akron and Saint Francis (Pa.). The meet is set to start at 1 p.m. at the Beeghly Center Natatorium. The meet is the Penguins' Senior Day and will be carried live on the Horizon League Network.
