
Swimming & Diving Wins Four Events at UIC

Chicago, Ill. -- The Youngstown State Swimming and Diving team posted four individual wins, two swimming and both diving events in a dual meet against UIC at UIC Natatorium on Friday. The Flames won the dual by a score of 164-131.
Winning swimming events were junior Nishani Cicilson who won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.06 seconds and freshman Laura Paz who was first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.06.
Sophomore Casey Hill won the one-meter dive with a score of 252.30 and the three-meter dive with score of 248.62.
Sophomore Samantha Roberts won 400 IM with time of 4:47.21, but posted the second fastest time in the event. Roberts placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of1:08.76 and was second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.49.
Freshman Megan Ciampa placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:51.25 and had the third-fastest time in the 400 IM at 4:49.13.
In the one-meter dive and three-meter dives, freshman Tricia Vallinger placed second behind Hill with scores of 228.90 and 236.70.
In the 200 free relay, YSU was second with time of 1:41.63.
The Penguins are back in action on Saturday when they head north to visit Green Bay. YSU takes on the Phoenix and Illinois State at the meet.
