The Youngstown State women's basketball team will welcome
undefeated and nationally-ranked Green Bay to Beeghly Center on
Monday at 7:05 p.m. The Phoenix, off to its best start in school
history, will be the second top-20 team to play on campus this
season. YSU hosted Pittsburgh when the Panthers were ranked No. 19
on Dec. 2, 2009.
While the Phoenix is 12-0, the Penguins enter the contest 0-12.
YSU played well in its Horizon League opener against Milwaukee on
Saturday, allowing a season-low 68 points in a nine-point loss to
the Panthers. The Penguins led by five in the first half and
briefly in the second half before Milwaukee jumped ahead by as many
as 16. YSU rallied to get the margin to five with 1:17 left, but
UWM socred the final four points.
Brandi Brown recorded her fourth double-double of the season
against Milwaukee, finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Both
of those marks were game-highs for the Penguin freshman, who is the
only Horizon League player to average a double-double (11.1 points,
10.4 rebounds).
The Penguins continue a busy stretch when they travel to Chicago
for games against UIC and Loyola next week. YSU plays at UIC on
Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern and at Loyola on Saturday at 3 p.m.
