Youngstown State will participate in the WBCA
Pink Zone initiative to raise awareness and money for breast cancer
as it takes on Wright State on Thursday in the final doubleheader
of the season. The game, which will be carried live on NewsRadio
570 WKBN, will tip off at 2:05 p.m.
The Guins, who will wear pink warm-ups,
are coming off one of their best offensive performances of the
season. YSU scored 62 points and shot 45.1 percent Thursday evening
in a 70-62 loss to Detroit. The points and shooting percentage both
rank as YSU's second-best totals this season. Both were
hights for games played at Beeghly Center.
Kelsey Gurganus scored a season-high 15
points, and Jaquetta Westley posted a team-high 16 against the
Titans. They combined to hit six of YSU's season-high eight
3-pointers. Monique Godfrey started for the first time this season,
which means every Penguin has started at least one game.
YSU could not contain Sandi Brown, whose
27 points were the most scored by an individual against the
Penguins this season. Jaleesa Trussell added 16 points off the
bench. YSU, however, outscored the Titans 29-20 in bench
points.
The Penguins will travel to Chicago next
week for games at Loyola and UIC.
