Tyler Burk serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and the Director of NIL in the Youngstown State Athletic Department. He was hired in his current capacity in June 2021 after serving as a graduate assistant in the department for 18 months.
In his role, Burk is the compliance liaison for the bowling, lacrosse, women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field/cross country programs. Burk is also the athletic department's director for Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), where YSU has seen tremendous success and has been the top-earning school in the Horizon League for the last two years. Other duties include reviewing promotional activities, complimentary tickets, donation requests, and outside aid. Burk became the sport supervisor for the men's and women's golf programs before the 2025-26 season.
In his tenure as a graduate assistant in the compliance office, Burk handled rules interpretation requests, reviewed data for the Academic Performance Rate (APR) and conducted rules education meetings. He also monitored aspects of financial aid and initial eligibility, and he assisted with the selection of athletic scholarship endowment recipients.
Burk, a native of nearby McDonald, graduated from Youngstown State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in political science. He then went on to receive a juris doctor degree from the University of Akron in 2019.
