Mary Beth George joined the Youngstown State Athletic Department in April 2022. George serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance at YSU, and she became the sport supervisor for the volleyball program in 2025.

In addition to her administrative duties, she is also the sports performance coach for Youngstown State's bowling program.

Prior to joining the YSU staff, George worked at the University of Pittsburgh with the volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and gymnastics teams. She trained NCAA and ACC champion divers, Dominic Giordano and Meme Sharp. George was also a part of the volleyball program's rise to three ACC titles (2017-2019) and five NCAA postseason appearances, including the Elite Eight in 2020 and Final Four in 2021.

Previously, George spent the spring of 2013 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Villanova University, working with both Football and the Olympic Sports. She served two years as a Graduate Assistant for Strength and Conditioning and Recreation Facility Management at Salisbury University. 

George earned a Master’s Degree in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University in 2012 and a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Denison University in Ohio in 2009. She is certified through the CSCCa (SCCC) and the NSCA (CSCS & RSCC).

A Brunswick, Ohio, native, Mary Beth and her husband Bobby, have a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Annabella.
