Former Youngstown State women’s soccer student-athlete Marissa Masano joined the YSU Athletics Communications office as a graduate assistant before the 2026-27 academic year.
While an undergraduate student, Masano worked in the sports department of The Jambar, YSU’s student newspaper, for three years and served as the head sports editor as a senior. The paper placed first in Overall Excellence in Division A of the Ohio News Media Association’s Collegiate Newspaper and Website Competition in 2025, and it won first place for sports coverage in 2026.
Masano was also a student assistant in YSU’s Athletics Communications office, editing videos, posting to social media and performing various game day duties.
Masano was a four-year member of YSU’s soccer program, appearing in 41 games primarily a defender from 2022-25. She was named the department’s Female Comeback Player of the Year in 2025-26 after overcoming a knee injury.
A member of YSU’s Sokolov Honors College, Masano earned her bachelor’s degree in multimedia communication with a focus on sports broadcasting in May 2026.
